Jen O’Malley Dillon, U.S. President Joe Biden’s campaign chairwoman, confirmed on Friday that Biden is “absolutely” committed to running for re-election, despite mounting pressure from some Democrats for him to withdraw.

“Absolutely, the President’s in this race,” Dillon declared in an interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

We believe our campaign is well-positioned for the close election we face, and we see a clear path forward. He’s the best person to take on Donald Trump and present his vision, in contrast to what we saw last night.

‘Trump offers nothing new’

Dillon emphasized that Trump “is not going to offer anything new to the American people,” asserting that “Joe Biden is more committed than ever to beating Donald Trump.”

Her comments follow an Axios report suggesting that Biden might announce his decision to end his re-election campaign as early as this weekend. Polls indicate Biden is trailing Trump in key battleground states with just four months until Election Day.

Currently self-isolating after another COVID-19 diagnosis, Biden has not publicly indicated any intention to heed calls to withdraw, despite growing demands from senior Democratic donors and lawmakers for him to step aside.
