Tirana protests intensify amid corruption allegations against Mayor Veliaj
In the capital of Albania, Tirana, protests demanding the resignation of Mayor Erion Veliaj were renewed following allegations of corruption in the municipality. The protests, which initially began in April 2024 with calls for Veliaj to resign, were once again supported by opposition parties, including the Democratic Party (PD) and the Freedom Party (PL), as well as civil society organizations.
