Trump shares map incorporating Canada into United States on Truth Social
President-elect Donald J. Trump shared a controversial map depicting the incorporation of Canada into the United States on his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday.
Trump allegedly told Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last week during dinner at Mar-a-Lago that Canada could become a part of the United States if it were not able to handle the 25% tariffs on Canadian products and services that Trump wishes to impose.
While Trudeau announced he would be vacating the top prime minister position on Monday, Trump announced on social media that, “Many people in Canada love being the 51st State. If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tarrifs, taxes would go way down, and they would be totally secure from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them. Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!”
Trudeau responded on Tuesday stating, “There is not a snowball’s change in hell” regarding the United States and Canada joining. Much tension has been brewing across North America prior to Trump taking his official position. He has called for the incorporation Canada and Greenland into the United States, as well as taking control of the Panama Canal.
On Tuesday, during a press conference, Trump stated that he did not rule out economic sanctions or the use of force to put his plans into action when asked by reporters.
Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Jan. 20. He will become the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms, the first intance of which was with 22nd and 24th president Grover Cleveland.
