Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the detention of 240 suspects linked to the PKK/YPG/KCK terrorist organization during extensive operations conducted across 43 provinces in the last two weeks.

In a statement shared on his social media account, Yerlikaya detailed the coordinated efforts named “Gurz-39” and “Gurz-40,” led by the police and gendarmerie forces.

“In order to achieve our goal of a ‘Türkiye without Terrorism’ and to ensure the peace, unity and solidarity of our nation, we are determined to eradicate all forms of terrorism from these lands,” Yerlikaya stated.

Details of suspects’ involvement

Yerlikaya disclosed that the detained individuals were suspected of active participation in the terrorist organization PKK/YPG/KCK‘s operational structures, including its youth and ideological branches.

The suspects are also reportedly providing financial support to the group and spreading propaganda on social media. Additionally, authorities apprehended individuals with outstanding arrest warrants or confirmed prison sentences.

Confiscated materials and coordination of operations

During the operations, security forces seized unregistered firearms, terrorist group’s organizational documents, and various digital materials.

The Interior Ministry revealed that the operations were conducted in coordination with multiple agencies, including the General Directorate of Security’s Counterterrorism and Intelligence departments, and local law enforcement units.

Yerlikaya praised the prosecutors coordinating the operations and commended the efforts of police officers and gendarmerie personnel involved.
