147 suspects detained in Türkiye’s operations against PKK/YPG terrorist group
Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Wednesday that 147 suspects were detained in “Gurz-28” operations targeting the PKK/YPG terrorist organization.
The operations carried out across 30 provinces including Istanbul, Antalya, and Diyarbakir, were coordinated with public prosecutors and the Counterterrorism Department.
Details of operations
Yerlikaya shared details about the raids on social media:
- Key focus areas: The suspects were accused of engaging in terrorist group activities, participating in youth formations, providing financial support and conducting propaganda on social media.
- Seized items: Authorities confiscated unlicensed firearms, hunting rifles, drugs, organizational documents, and digital materials during the operations.
- Collaborative effort: The operations involved provincial gendarmerie commands and were supported by public prosecutor offices.
Minister Yerlikaya’s statement
In his announcement, Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of counterterrorism efforts:
“We are eradicating the separatist terrorist organization that has been ambushing our brotherhood for 40 years and targeting the unity and solidarity of our nation. “Fighting against terrorism” is our red line!.”
Yerlikaya also praised the efforts of public prosecutors and the gendarmerie for their contributions by saying, “I congratulate our Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office who coordinated the operations and our Heroic Gendarmerie who carried out the operations. Our nation’s prayers are with you.”
