Turkish authorities have detained 42 suspects in a series of coordinated anti-Daesh operations conducted across 17 provinces over the past week, according to an official statement from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

The operation, named ‘Gurz-35’, was carried out under the coordination of Public Prosecutor’s Offices and Gendermerie General Command’s Counterterrorism Department. Local Gendermerie Commands in Adana, Ankara, Balikesir, Batman, Bursa, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Edirne, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Kahramanmaras, Karabuk, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Mardin, Mersin, and Sanliurfa participated in the raids targeting Daesh terrorist organization’s network in Türkiye.

Suspects linked to terror financing and propaganda

Authorities identified the terror suspects as being actively engaged in various illegal activities, including membership in the terrorist organization, financing terrorism acts, and disseminating propaganda through social media platforms.

In addition to the arrests, security forces seized significant amounts of organizational documents and digital materials believed to support of terrorist activities.

Commitment to eradicating terrorism

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya emphasized Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to fighting terrorism, stating, “We are determined to eradicate terrorism from our country with an all-out fight. Unity, togetherness, brotherhood and solidarity against terrorism is our greatest strength.”
