Türkiye eliminates 14 PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Iraq
The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that 14 PKK/YPG terrorists were eliminated in an operation in northern Iraq.
Operations in the Gara eliminated nine while those in Gara killed five militants between Oct. 9 and 11.
The strikes are part of Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to combat the PKK/YPG, a group considered a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States and the European Union.
Turkish military vows to continue counterterrorism efforts
In a statement, the Ministry of Defense emphasized the determination of the Turkish Armed Forces to “strike at the heart of terrorism.” The statement also reiterated Türkiye’s resolve to eliminate the PKK/YPG at its source.
“We are determined, resolute and capable of eradicating terrorism at its source!” the ministry declared, underscoring the nation’s commitment to securing the region.
PKK/YPG’s presence in northern Iraq
The PKK/YPG has maintained a presence in northern Iraq for decades, using the region as a base for attacks on Türkiye.
Ankara regularly conducts military operations in northern Iraq to eliminate PKK/YPG terrorists and disrupt their activities.
