Security sources report that Akyol, also known by her code name Farasin Gabar, and Karadagli, known as Tijda Jiyan, were closely monitored by Turkish intelligence for an extended period. The operation to capture them was executed after confirmation that both individuals were located in the Hakurk region.

Akyol and Karadagli were killed by MIT forces while they were in the process of assembling IEDs. The operation took place in Hakurk, a known stronghold for PKK/YPG activities, where the two terrorists were involved in the preparation of explosive devices used in attacks.
Akyol had a history of involvement in PKK/YPG terrorist activities, including participation in the 2015 trench and barricade incidents in Cizre, Sirnak. After the events concluded, she joined the rural ranks of the PKK/YPG. Akyol received weapons training in the organization’s camps in Iraq and was active in Haftanin in 2019 and Hakurk in 2020, where she specialized in sabotage and attack operations.
Karadagli, who joined the PKK/YPG in 2014, moved to the Hakurk region in 2023, where she received training in sabotage and attack techniques.
