Israeli army says 4 soldiers killed in northern Gaza
The Israeli army announced on Tuesday that four soldiers from the elite Multidomain Unit, also known as the “Ghost” Unit, were killed during combat in northern Gaza earlier in the day.
The soldiers were part of an ongoing military offensive in the region, which has seen intensified clashes in recent weeks.
Killed Israeli soldiers identified
The Israeli army released the names of the four soldiers who died in action. They are:
- Capt. Yehonatan (Joni) Keren, 22, from Moledet, a combat officer.
- Staff Sgt. Nisim Meytal, 20, from Hadera, a combat soldier.
- Staff Sgt. Aviv Gilboa, 21, from Neve Tzuf, a combat soldier.
- Staff Sgt. Naor Haimov, 22, from Rosh HaAyin, a combat soldier.
All four soldiers served with the Multidomain Unit (Unit 888). Israeli army noted that a combat officer from the same unit was seriously wounded during the incident and is receiving medical treatment.
Circumstances under investigation
The Israeli army announced that they were currently investigating the circumstances of the deadly incident. As part of Israel’s broader military operations in Gaza, clashes between Israeli forces and militants have intensified, resulting in numerous casualties on both sides.
