Four Israeli soldiers have been killed during combat in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, the Israeli army confirmed. The soldiers were all members of the Shimshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade.

Names and details of killed Israeli soldiers

The soldiers killed were:

  • Staff Sgt. Orr Katz, 20, from Ma’ale Adumim, combat medic
  • Staff Sgt. Nave Yair Asulin, 21, from Carmit, soldier in the Shimshon Battalion
  • Staff Sgt. Gary Lalhruaikima Zolat, 21, from Afula, soldier in the Shimshon Battalion
  • Staff Sgt. Ofir Eliyahu, 20, from Holon, soldier in the Shimshon Battalion

The Israeli army stated that their families had been notified.

Number of Israeli soldiers killed in Gaza rises

The deaths of these four soldiers bring the total number of Israeli military personnel killed since the start of the ground offensive in Gaza in October last year to 376.

The Kfir Brigade, also known as Brigade 900, is a regular infantry brigade in the Israeli army. Established in 2005, it was initially part of the “Idan Formation.” In September 2020, it was reassigned to the “Bazak Formation” (Division 99) and restructured as an infantry-fire brigade.

The Kfir Brigade is the largest infantry brigade in the Israeli army, comprising four battalions and a reconnaissance unit. It operates throughout all areas where the Israeli army is active. Colonel Yaniv Barot has served as the brigade’s commander since August 2023.
