Yair Lapid, leader of Israel’s opposition party Yesh Atid and former prime minister, announced that 890 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 11,000 wounded since the country launched military offensives in Gaza and Lebanon on October 7, 2023.

Lapid blamed the losses on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right government, calling for immediate action to prevent further casualties.

Speaking to Israel’s Channel 12, Lapid expressed concern over the mounting military losses in recent offensives. “Since Oct. 7, 890 Israeli soldiers have been killed, and 11,000 wounded. These numbers cannot be ignored,” Lapid said, holding the current government responsible for what he described as preventable deaths.

Urges Netanyahu government to act

Lapid criticized Netanyahu’s government, stating that more soldiers would be lost if the administration continued its inaction. “If Prime Minister Netanyahu’s far-right government does nothing, more Israeli soldiers will be killed,” he warned.

He urged immediate government intervention to stem the growing casualties.
