Israeli airstrike kills Hezbollah logistics commander in Beirut
The Israeli military has announced that it killed Suhail Hussein Husseini, Hezbollah’s logistics headquarters commander, in an airstrike in Beirut. Husseini was responsible for managing logistics and budgeting across various units of Hezbollah, according to Israeli military sources.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that Husseini played a key role in coordinating the logistics and budget processes of different Hezbollah divisions.
“Suhail Hussein Husseini was overseeing Hezbollah’s logistics headquarters and was responsible for managing logistics and budgeting across the organization’s various units,” the statement read.
Hezbollah military leadership
Husseini was also a member of Hezbollah’s highest military authority, the Jihad Council. Israeli officials stated that Husseini had significant influence over Hezbollah’s military operations.
“Husseini played a pivotal role in facilitating the transfer of weapons from Iran to Hezbollah and personally managed the distribution of these arms to Hezbollah units,” the IDF said.
Key responsibilities and coordination
Israeli sources indicated that Husseini was in charge of the budgeting and logistical management of some of Hezbollah’s most sensitive projects, including war plans and special operations. Furthermore, he was believed to be responsible for coordinating terrorist attacks against Israel from both Lebanon and Syria.
In addition, the IDF stated that Hezbollah’s research and development unit, which oversees the production of precision-guided missiles, was part of the logistics headquarters that Husseini controlled.
