As the longest-serving Senate leader in American history, 82-year-old veteran politician Mitch McConnell said on Wednesday that he would resign as the Republican Party’s leader in the Senate later this year.

“I stand before you today, Mr. President and my colleagues to say this will be my last term as Republican leader,” McConnell said in the chamber.;
