Türkiye plans to set up the Foreign Affairs Foundation to harness the expertise of retired diplomats and strengthen its diplomatic efforts

Türkiye is establishing the Foreign Affairs Foundation, a new institution in the field of public diplomacy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate education, culture and knowledge transfer.

The Foreign Affairs Foundation will continue to benefit from the experience and knowledge of retired diplomats. Retired foreign service officers will be involved in this foundation, particularly leading in public diplomacy activities.

The foundation will also function like an academy. Those serving in Türkiye’s diplomatic activities will receive training from highly experienced diplomats through this foundation.

Thus, the civilian aspect of diplomacy will also be reinforced.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs will serve as the President of the Foundation.

Legislative work for the establishment of the Foreign Affairs Foundation has been completed.

It is expected that the relevant bill from the Development and Justice Party (AK Party) group will be presented to the parliament next week
