Türkiye-Iraq security meeting to take place in Ankara
Ankara will host the fourth meeting of the High-Level Security Mechanism between Türkiye and Iraq on Aug. 15.
The conference aims to strengthen the institutional and sustainable cooperation framework between the two neighboring countries.
High-level talks in Ankara
The meeting will be co-chaired by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
Both ministers will be accompanied by their respective delegations, engaging in discussions focused on enhancing bilateral security cooperation.
According to diplomatic sources, the primary objective of this meeting is to establish a more structured and enduring partnership between Türkiye and Iraq.
The talks are expected to cover various aspects of security collaboration, with an emphasis on creating a robust framework for future cooperation.
Dissolution of terrorist organization PKK-linked parties
Recently the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council has ordered the dissolution of several political parties and groups linked to the terrorist organization PKK, a banned organization in Iraq.
The Iraqi government has started taking serious measures against the PKK/YPG within the country, demonstrating its commitment to national security and political stability.
The government has also expressed full faith in the Türkiye-Iraq Development Road Project that is being established with regional partners with this step being taken.
