536 suspects arrested in Türkiye’s ‘Gurz-34’ operation targeting Daesh terrorists

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced the arrest of 536 suspects during the “Gurz-34” operation, a nationwide effort targeting the terrorist organization Daesh. The operations were conducted over 12 days across 57 provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.

Minister Yerlikaya stated that the operations were coordinated with public prosecutors, Turkish intelligence, and the Counterterrorism Department. Local Counterterrorism Units from provincial police departments executed the operations.

The suspects are accused of engaging in activities for Daesh, providing financial support to the group, and maintaining connections with conflict zones. Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of unity in the fight against terrorism, stating, “Our collective solidarity and shared values are powerful defenses against the spread of terrorism. We are fully committed to eradicating terrorism from Türkiye through a comprehensive and unified approach.”

Footage from the operations, shared by Yerlikaya on social media, showcased the scale of the efforts. He commended the public prosecutors, Turkish intelligence, and police officers for their diligence and successful execution of the mission.

The “Gurz-34” operation reflects Türkiye’s continued resolve to combat terrorism domestically and internationally, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring national security and stability.
