In the Manbij region of Syria, a 7-year-old Syrian girl, Ranim El-Heysem, was tragically shot and killed by a sniper affiliated with the PKK/YPG terrorist group.

The young girl, accompanied by her father, was traveling from Manbij to Deyr Hafir when they were caught in the crossfire of a PKK/YPG militant attack. The sniper deliberately targeted the child, resulting in her fatal injuries.

The incident occurred in the eastern part of Manbij. Despite her father’s desperate efforts to save her by rushing her for medical assistance, Ranim succumbed to her injuries and died in her father’s arms. Following the incident, members of the local community publicly denounced the PKK/YPG for their continued attacks on innocent civilians, especially children. They called for the cessation of such acts of violence and appealed to the international community to take stronger measures to prevent further atrocities of this nature.

The ongoing violence in and around Manbij has caused significant instability in the region, with civilians increasingly becoming victims of the escalating attacks. The continued targeting of innocent individuals, particularly children, by armed groups like the PKK/YPG is contributing to a climate of fear and insecurity.
