Hatay secures Geographical Indication Registration for 6 local delicacies

The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office registered Hatay’s six local delicacies including “tepsi orugu, pepper with walnuts, hummus, zilk sarmasi, shish brioche soup and sheikh mualla dish with geographical indication.

The six local delicacies that received geographical indication certificates with the initiative of Hatay Governorship were introduced with a program organized at the Gastronomy House in the EXPO area.

During the program, Governor Mustafa Masatli said it is important to include the richness of Hatay cuisine, which has survived until today with all its features, in the geographical marking inventory.

Stating that they are taking the necessary steps without slowing down for the city affected by the earthquakes to get back on its feet, Masatli said that it is among the important and prioritized goals for the wheels of the economy to start turning again.

Masatli stated that especially the preparation, processing and production of local products and delicacies is important for both revitalizing the economy of the province and increasing the motivation of people.

Reminding that 25 products specific to the city have already received geographical indication certificates, Masatli said that they are aware of the richness of the city’s culture and that they are determined to move the country and the city forward by ensuring that this richness is registered on every platform.

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Onturk also expressed his happiness that six products of Hatay received geographical indication registration certificates.

After the speeches, the participants were offered to taste the six local delicacies with geographical indication certificates.
