The Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) has been granted a license to explore oil in nine regions within Turkish territorial waters in the Aegean Sea.

The General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs made the announcements, published in the Official Gazette, under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

According to the reports, TPAO has been awarded nine oil exploration licenses, each valid for eight years, to operate in designated areas within Turkish territorial waters in the Aegean, marked by specific coordinates.

The license also includes expanded exploration zones in three provinces: Bingöl, Elazığ, and Diyarbakır, adding a total of 15,153 hectares to the permitted area.

Additionally, Arar Petrol’s oil exploration license, covering 61,755 hectares in the Hatay, Osmaniye, and Adana regions, has been extended until September 3, 2025.
