Main opposition CHP ahead of ruling AK Party: Metropoll survey

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is projected to lose to all his major political rivals if elections were held this Sunday, according to the latest Türkiye’s Pulse survey conducted by Metropoll Research in October 2024.

The poll results show significant support for opposition candidates, with Republican People’s Party (CHP)’s Mansur Yavas leading the pack.

Opposition leads in key matchups

In a hypothetical matchup between Erdogan and Yavas, the latter is predicted to win with 53.8% of the vote, while Erdogan trails at 28.7%.

Similarly, in a contest against Ekrem Imamoglu, Erdogan would secure only 30.6% of the vote, compared to Imamoglu’s 49%. When matched with CHP’s Ozgur Ozel, Erdogan is projected to lose 45.2% to 31.2%.

Party support reflects close race

In terms of party support, the poll found that if elections were held this Sunday, CHP would receive 32.1% of the vote, while the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) would trail slightly with 31%.

Smaller parties, including the DEM Party at 10.6% and MHP at 6.3%, also factor into the closely watched race.

Public expectations for election results

The survey also revealed that 37.3% of respondents believe CHP will win the upcoming election, while 32.3% think the AK Party will emerge victorious.

A significant 17.7% of respondents did not provide an answer.
