Erdogan criticizes social media, gaming platforms for poisoning youth
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the International Summit on Technology, R&D and Quality in Education (ETAK24), where he delivered key messages regarding social media and gaming platforms.
Erdogan criticized social media and gaming platforms for negatively influencing young people, stating, “We frequently witness how social media and certain gaming platforms poison our youth.”
He also remarked that social media fosters enmity and labeled it as the “epicenter of racism traps,” citing the uncontrolled nature of the digital world as a source of numerous threats.
The president further criticized some domestic groups for defending the interests of international companies instead of protecting the rights and welfare of children. He also condemned gaming platforms for promoting violence and corrupting family structures, asserting that they facilitate harmful trends.
Erdogan concluded by stating that digital platforms are central to the racism traps aimed at undermining Türkiye economically, socially, and in terms of security.
