Captivating ‘Carmen’ shines at 21st International Bodrum Ballet Festival
The charming town of Bodrum in Mugla is hosting the 21st International Bodrum Ballet Festival this year. As part of the festival, the renowned opera and ballet piece “Carmen” took the stage at the Bodrum Castle North Moat Theater.
Running from Aug. 3 to Aug. 22, the festival featured a stunning performance of “Carmen” by the Samsun State Opera and Ballet.
The production vividly portrayed Carmen’s passionate love affair with Don Jose and Escamillo, infused with the vibrant rhythms of flamenco.
The choreography by Carlos Vilan, music arrangement by Tulio Gagliardo Varas, set design by Tayfun Cebi, costume design by Gulay Korkut, and lighting by Oguz Murat Yilmaz all contributed to the performance’s visual and auditory splendor.
In his opening speech, Tan Sagturk, general director of the State Opera and Ballet, expressed pride in sharing high-level art and aesthetics.
The performance was attended by CHP Mugla Member of Parliament Sureyya Ones Derici, Bodrum Deputy Mayor Kanat Ozsert, and numerous local and international art enthusiasts.
The “Carmen” ballet will be staged again at the same venue during the festival. Additionally, on Aug. 11 and 12, the Mersin State Opera and Ballet will present “The Great Gatsby” as part of the festival.
