In a daring operation reminiscent of a Hollywood heist, seven individuals have been apprehended in connection with a staggering ₺130 million ($5 million) robbery at the Memduh Pasha Mansion in Istanbul’s Sarıyer district.

Security guard turns mastermind

Ahmet Y., a security guard at a construction company within the mansion, orchestrated the meticulously planned robbery, letting in masked accomplices after silencing the alarm during the night.

The thieves swiftly broke into safes, filled bags with approximately $5 million in cash, and loaded them onto a waiting van before disappearing without a trace.

Police response and investigation unravels plot

Prompted by a report from the mansion’s owner, police swiftly arrived on the scene and began examining security camera footage, which revealed the shocking details of the robbery orchestrated by the insider security guard.

Following extensive investigations and surveillance, seven suspects, including three directly involved in the heist, were detained in Istanbul and Edirne. Police claim to have seized a portion of the stolen money, with efforts ongoing to recover the rest.
