French tourist finds 7.46-carat diamond in US park
French tourist who came to the U.S. to watch a rocket launch finds a 7.46-carat diamond in the mud in Arkansas State Park
French tourist Julien Navas, who traveled to the U.S. from Paris to watch the launch of United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan Centaur rocket in Florida made a surprising discovery at Crater of Diamonds State Park in southwest Arkansas. While using a rented diamond hunting kit, he unearthed a 7.46-carat brown diamond.
Navas took the stones he found while digging to the Diamond Discovery Center to find out what they were, where officials confirmed that one of his findings was a 7.46-carat brown diamond.
Navas decided to name the diamond after his fiance Carine and hopes to cut the “Carine Diamond” in half and give one to his fiance and the other to his daughter when he returns home.
