Many children in Gaza are surviving on a single meal per day or none at all, according to UNICEF

UNICEF issued a statement on Friday urgently calling for a cease-fire as the offensive on the Gaza Strip enters its 139th day. The statement emphasized the food shortages and health problems affecting children due to malnutrition.

“Many people in Gaza survive on just one meal a day, while others have no meals at all,” stated UNICEF. Children are facing acute malnutrition, and access to clean water is less than 1 liter per person. “Children need an immediate cease-fire,” the statement emphasized.

More than four months of violence in Gaza has led to a humanitarian crisis. Thousands of civilians, mostly women and children, have lost their lives as a result of the targeting of every single point in the region.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, the number of people killed in the attacks since Oct. 7 has risen to 29,410, with 69,465 injured.
