Trump and Harris battle neck-and-neck as election day looms
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris are locked in a tight national race with just one day before millions of Americans head to the polls, according to data released Sunday.
Trump, who held a lead in recent weeks, has seen it narrow as the Nov. 5 election approaches. Both candidates now stand at 48.5%, according to a RealClearPolitics polling average. While most polls show a slim difference of 1-4% between the two, five surveys indicate they are tied.
Despite the national deadlock, Trump maintains an edge in key battleground states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. However, the margins in most of these states remain within the polls’ margins of error.
Trump’s largest lead is in North Carolina, where he is ahead by 2.7%, followed by Georgia (+1.7%), Nevada (+1%), and Pennsylvania (+0.3%). Harris leads in Michigan (+1.2%) and Wisconsin (+0.4%).
Poll margins of error range from just under 3% to 5%.
More than 80 million Americans have already cast early ballots, including over 15 million Democrats, 14 million Republicans, and 10 million unaffiliated voters. However, not all states report party affiliation in early voting data.
