Students protest in support of Palestine in Venezuela
University students gather in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, to participate in a protest against Israel’s assault on Gaza
Hundreds of students marched down the main street of the capital, Caracas, proudly displaying both Palestinian and Venezuelan flags.
Protesting the ongoing Israeli assaults in Gaza, the student groups demanded freedom for Palestine and a cease-fire for Gaza.
Fadi Alzaben, Palestinian Ambassador to Venezuela, spoke to the gathered crowd, denouncing Israel’s actions in Palestine as massacres supported by the United States.
Alzaben demanded the international community raise its voice for the protection of Palestinians and greeted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the Venezuelan people for their support for Gaza.
On the other hand, Dave Oliveros, President of the Venezuelan Federation of University Students, also spoke at the protest. In his speech, Oliveros remarked Israel was committing “genocide,” in Gaza, saying: “As Venezuelans, we will always raise our voices, and we will not be silent in the face of massacres. They are killing children, we must voice this in all organizations. We are here for the freedom of the Palestinian people.”
