Spain bars Israeli companies from 2025 defense expo over Palestine, Lebanon concerns
Spain announced Thursday that Israeli companies will be barred from participating in the 2025 International Defense and Security Exhibition (FEINDEF) in Madrid, citing the country’s commitment to peace in Palestine and Lebanon and adherence to international humanitarian law.
Defense Secretary Amparo Valcarce confirmed the exclusion, highlighting Israel’s actions in the occupied Palestinian territories and Lebanon as key factors behind the decision.
Additionally, an incident involving Israeli soldiers attacking international delegates, including Spanish citizens, in the West Bank played a role.
The delegation, which included former Barcelona Mayor Ada Colau and European Parliament member Jaume Asens, was accompanying Palestinians harvesting olives when Israeli forces deployed tear gas.
FEINDEF, considered one of the world’s top 10 defense exhibitions, is expected to host more than 400 companies and will be held in Madrid from May 12 to 14, 2025.
