Russian Duma’s deputy speaker Pyotr Tolstoy threatens to kill all French soldiers entering Ukraine, responding to French President Macron’s statements on supporting Ukraine

Pyotr Tolstoy, the deputy speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament, the Duma, said that all French soldiers entering Ukrainian territory would be killed.

Addressing Macron’s statement about “having no limits in supporting Ukraine,” Tolstoy said: “We don’t care about his opinion. Macron’s words, the borders, we don’t care. We will kill all French soldiers who come to Ukrainian territory, all of them.”

Tolstoy mentioned that there are 13,000 mercenaries in Ukraine, of which 367 are French.

Claiming that 147 French mercenaries have been killed in the country, Tolstoy asserted: “We will kill everyone, don’t worry.”

Accusing French soldiers wanting to come to Odesa of trying to start World War III, Tolstoy stated: “The idea of sending French soldiers to Ukraine will end with coffins draped in the French flag at Orly (airport in Paris).”

Macron’s controversial statements

Speaking at the closing of a conference on supporting Ukraine hosted by France on Feb. 26, French President Emmanuel Macron stated: “We will do whatever it takes to ensure that Russia does not win this war.”

Sending a message that “everything is possible” to achieve this goal, Macron emphasized that sending troops to Ukraine should not be ruled out.

Following Macron’s remarks, European politicians, NATO, and the European Union (EU) made statements indicating that military forces would not be sent to Ukraine.

Additionally, Le Monde newspaper claimed that Macron said in front of some guests, “next year, military units will need to be sent to Odessa.”

This statement from Tolstoy adds to the escalating tensions between Russia and Western countries amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
