Pope Francis advocates dialogue in the Middle East
Pope Francis stated in his Sunday sermon that he prayed for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas
Pope Francis said, “I pray daily for peace in Palestine and Israel.” Pope Francis voiced his apprehensions regarding the Middle East situation on Sunday and advocated for diplomacy and peace.
During his customary Sunday Angelus prayer at the Vatican, the Pontiff remarked, “I persist in monitoring the Middle East with concern.”
Pope Francis said, “I reiterate the appeal not to succumb to the demands of conflict but rather to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy.”
“I hope daily prayers for peace in Palestine and Israel, ardently waiting that these two nations will swiftly halt their afflictions,” the Pope further articulated.
Despite the International Court of Justice’s interim decree, Israel persists in its assault on Gaza, resulting in the fatalities of nearly 34,100 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and nearly 77,000 injured since Oct. 7, as reported by Palestinian health authorities.
