Kamala Harris, Tim Walz kick off campaign with 1st rally in Philadelphia
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and her newly chosen running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, held their first rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening. This event marked Harris’ first public appearance since her confirmation as the Democratic presidential nominee and Walz’s introduction as her vice-presidential pick.
In her speech, Harris declared, “Today, I am proud to declare that I am officially the Democratic nominee for president of the United States. So now we have some work to do. We have to move to the general election and win that.”
The VP America deserves
Harris praised Walz, stating he is “the kind of person who makes people feel like they belong and then inspires them to dream big.” She emphasized, “That’s the kind of vice president he will be. And that’s the kind of vice president America deserves.”
Walz, in turn, expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for bringing back the joy.” He added, “We’ve got 91 days. My God, that’s easy. We’ll sleep when we’re dead.”
