Israeli ex-spy chief accused of threatening ICC official
According to reports, former Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen’s interactions with former ICC prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda began following the announcement of the ICC’s decision to initiate a formal investigation into alleged war crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The process, initiated in 2021, reached its peak last week when Bensouda’s successor, Karim Khan, revealed his intention to seek an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This move sent shockwaves throughout Israel.
It is alleged that Cohen had been attempting to pressure the Court even before the recent escalation, purportedly stating to ICC officials, “You should help us, and we will help you. You wouldn’t want to get involved in things that could jeopardize your safety or that of your family.”
