Hungary’s parliament elects Tamas Sulyok, 67, as new president after his predecessor’s controversial pardon of a child abuse case
Following the departure of his predecessor, who infuriated everyone by pardoning a man found guilty in a case of child abuse, Hungary’s parliament on Monday elected a political outsider to the presidency.
Head of the Constitutional Court Tamas Sulyok, 67, took the oath of office after being chosen by the majority of MPs to succeed Katalin Novak, the first female president of Hungary.
