Global community should acknowledge 2-state resolution in Cyprus: Tatar
President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar underlined the necessity for the international community to embrace a dual-state resolution on the Cyprus issue
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Ersin Tatar made significant remarks regarding the future of the Cyprus issue, stating that imposing a resolution on Turks on the island is unfeasible.
Reminding that Türkiye consistently stands by them, Tatar said, “I have communicated this to all parties at the United Nations. They cannot enforce a resolution by pressuring Turkish Cypriots. We are not alone. Türkiye is by our side.”
Asserting that a dual-state resolution is the only sensible approach on the island, Tatar stated, “The global community needs to acknowledge the existence of two distinct democratic states on the island.”
Moreover, Tatar underscored the injustices encountered by Turkish Cypriots, stating, “The UN is cognizant of the injustices faced by Turkish Cypriots.”
