FM Fidan calls for Gaza cease-fire during visit to Riyadh

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza as he participated in the Contact Group meeting, established by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League to halt the massacre in Gaza and achieve enduring peace, convened in Riyadh.
According to diplomatic sources, the Contact Group meeting in Riyadh has concluded.
During the meeting, discussions centered around the decisions to be made at the OIC Summit scheduled for May 4 in Banjul.
The participants deliberated on the collective measures toward recognizing Palestine as a sovereign state and assessed the means of exerting pressure on Israel and its supporting countries.
Minister Fidan reiterated the call for a ceasefire in Gaza during the meeting.
Apart from the Contact Group session, Fidan is set to continue his multilateral and bilateral engagements in Riyadh today and tomorrow.
Fidan is slated to meet with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safedi, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, Yemeni Foreign Minister Shai Mohsen Zindani, as well as Vice President of the European Commission and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
He discussed potential steps toward recognizing Palestine as a state and the pressure tactics applicable to Israel and its supporters.
