Danish police investigate 2 blasts near Israel’s embassy in Copenhagen
Danish police are investigating two explosions near the Israeli embassy in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
Copenhagen police said in a statement posted on social media platform X that no one had been injured and that they were conducting initial investigations at the scene.
The explosions occurred in close proximity to the embassy, and investigators are looking into a possible link to the diplomatic facility. “A possible connection to the Israeli embassy, located in the area, is being investigated,” the police statement added.
Local media reports indicate a heavy police presence in the area, with a large section cordoned off as investigators search for evidence. Tabloid B.T. reported that investigators in coverall suits were combing the scene for clues.
When contacted, the Israeli embassy was not immediately available for comment.
Ongoing investigation
Details about the cause of the blasts or potential suspects remain unclear.
The Copenhagen police stated at a press conference that two explosions occurred near the Israeli embassy in Hellerup, Copenhagen, with no reported injuries, according to Copenhagen Police
“There were two explosions last night near Strandagervej and Lundevangsvej,” Deputy Police Inspector Jakob Hansen stated.
While it is unclear if the blasts are linked to the nearby Israeli embassy, police are investigating all possibilities.
“We are certainly considering the proximity to the Israeli embassy, but it’s too early to determine any connection,” he added.
The explosions occurred in the Strandagervej/Lundevangsvej area, which has since been cordoned off. Police are also stationed at the embassy, located on Lundevangsvej in Hellerup.
