14 injured in PortAventura rollercoaster accident
In Spain’s Catalonia region, 14 people were injured when a tree fell onto the rollercoaster rails at an amusement park
On Sunday morning, strong winds caused a tree to fall onto the Tomhawk rollercoaster at PortAventura World, injuring 14.
Five of the injured are hospitalized and two are in critical condition, the emergency service in the northeastern Catalonia region said in a statement on the social media platform X.
The emergency service did not provide any information on the ages of the injured.
Local police have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to PortAventura, the PortAventura World Park is the most visited amusement park in Spain and the sixth most visited in Europe.
