Türkiye’s unemployment rate steady at 8.6% in September, TurkStat reports
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported that Türkiye’s unemployment rate held steady at 8.6% in September, reflecting a 0.5 percentage points decrease compared to the same month last year.
According to TurkStat data, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained stable from the previous month, with 3.1 million people unemployed. Unemployment by gender was estimated at 6.7% for men and 12.3% for women.
Youth unemployment, covering individuals aged 15-24, increased by 0.3 percentage points to 17.1%, with a rate of 13.5% for men and 24% for women.
Employment rate rises slightly
The seasonally adjusted number of employed individuals rose by 95,000, totaling 32.8 million, which brought the employment rate to 49.7%, up by 0.1 percentage points.
The employment rate was recorded at 67.3% for men and 32.5% for women. The average weekly working hours of employed individuals remained steady at 42.7 hours.
