Türkiye’s annual inflation rate climbs to 67.07% in February, showing an increase from January’s 64.86, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat)

Türkiye’s annual inflation rate was 67.07% in February, up from 64.86% in January, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) revealed Monday.

Clothing and footwear saw the lowest annual price increase with 43.44% while hotels, cafes and restaurants recorded the highest with 94.78%, TurkStat data showed.

Monthly inflation was recorded at 4.53% while 12-month rolling inflation was 55.91% in February.

Earlier in the day, Türkiye’s Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek told local broadcaster BloombergHT that inflation would remain high in the coming months because of base effects and the delayed impact of rate hikes but would fall in the next 12 months.
