Türkiye launches nationwide operation against PKK/YPG, 176 suspects nabbed
Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared details about a recent operation conducted in response to a terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).
In a post on his official X account, Yerlikaya announced that 176 suspected members of terrorist organizations were apprehended during operations carried out across 31 provinces.
He emphasized, “We will continue our struggle with determination until the last terrorist is neutralized for the peace, unity, and solidarity of our nation!”
Operation details
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices and the Intelligence Department of the General Directorate of Security.
Provincial police conducted raids in Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Aydin, Balikesir, Bitlis, Bursa, Denizli, Diyarbakir, Erzincan, Erzurum, Elazig, Gaziantep, Hakkari, Hatay, Igdir, Istanbul, Izmir, Kars, Kocaeli, Konya, Malatya, Manisa, Mersin, Nevsehir, Siirt, Sanliurfa, Sirnak, Tekirdag, Tunceli and Van. Authorities discovered that the suspects:
- Engaged in activities within terrorist organizations
- Were involved in the organization’s youth structures,
- Provided financial support to these groups
- Conducted propaganda for terrorist organizations through their social media accounts
- Participated in unlawful demonstrations that included roadblocks, tire burning, throwing stones, fireworks and Molotov cocktails
Seized items
As a result of the operations, authorities seized:
- Numerous unlicensed handguns and shotguns
- Significant quantity of narcotic substances
- Organizational documents and digital materials
Minister Yerlikaya reiterated that Türkiye’s fight against terrorism will continue with unwavering resolve.
