Prince Laurent of Belgium praises President Erdogan’s initiatives, saying Türkiye has great potential in defense and energy
Prince Laurent, a member of the Belgian Royal Family, has stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has positioned Türkiye as one of the leading countries in the world in the defense industry.
He also mentioned Türkiye’s potential in renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, paralleling its success in these fields.
Highlighting his numerous visits to Türkiye in the past, Prince Laurent expressed his enduring interest and respect for the nation because of its geopolitical significance as a bridge between Asia and Europe, describing it as a remarkable country.
Furthering his remarks, Prince Laurent commended the diligent work ethic of the Turkish people, acknowledging the country’s well-equipped engineers and the superior quality of its roads compared to those in Europe.
Referring to the “Zero Waste Project” led by President Erdogan’s wife, Emine Erdogan, Prince Laurent recognized her efforts and the project’s recognition by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Prince Laurent revealed that they have entered into a confidentiality agreement to collaborate with SOCAR as part of a project. He mentioned their intention to unveil the first pilot project in cooperation with Boğaziçi University at the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) Conference in June in Türkiye, followed by the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku in November.
He described this new project for hybridizing renewable technology as a significant opportunity for Türkiye and the entire Turkic region, citing President Erdogan’s strong rapport with regional leaders as a catalyst for fostering excellence in renewable technology and energy efficiency.
Finally, Prince Laurent underscored the significance of COP29 being hosted in Baku this year, portraying it as evidence of the considerable expertise in renewable technology within the Turkish states.
He credited President Erdogan as the driving force behind promoting this project not only in Europe and worldwide but also among the Turkish states.
