Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz held a meeting with Britain’s Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden to discuss a range of topics, including bilateral relations and regional developments.

Yilmaz described the talks with the deputy premier as “positive,” focusing on evaluating bilateral trade, financial ties, and political and regional issues.

He emphasized the desire to deepen and strengthen the free trade agreement between the two countries post-Brexit.

Highlighting the significance of maintaining dialogue and strong ties across various sectors, Yilmaz praised the positive trend in relations between Türkiye and the U.K.

He mentioned ongoing collaborations in diverse fields such as defense, energy, and aviation, stressing the importance of foreign direct investment (FDI).

With existing investments exceeding $13 billion in Türkiye and Turkish companies also investing in the U.K., Yilmaz expressed the aim to elevate these partnerships.

Last year saw bilateral trade between the two countries reach $19 billion, and Yilmaz hopes to surpass $20 billion this year.

Tourism remains a key area, with over 3 million British tourists visiting Türkiye last year, signaling significant growth expected this year.

Yilmaz concluded by expressing optimism for further advancements in all areas through continued high-level meetings and enhanced dialogue between public and private sectors, describing the discussions as fruitful and positive.
