The killers of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, an Israeli-Moldovan citizen murdered in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), were captured in Istanbul in a coordinated operation between Turkish intelligence and the Turkish police.

Emirati security agencies failed to prevent three suspects from leaving the country after the murder.

The UAE government had requested Türkiye’s assistance after three Uzbekistani nationals, suspected of killing Kogan, fled the country.

Kogan, 28, was found dead last week in what Israel’s Prime Minister described as “an abhorrent anti-Semitic terrorist attack.” The UAE confirmed on Sunday that three suspects were in custody, without revealing details of their arrest, later identifying them as Uzbek nationals.

Kogan was living and working in the UAE with his wife as a representative of the Chabad Hasidic movement, a global Jewish outreach organization.

Kogan, a Moldovan resident holding dual Israeli citizenship and UAE residency was laid to rest on Monday in Kfar Habad, Israel.

The suspects were tracked to Istanbul, where they were followed from the airport in a taxi.

Turkish security sources stated the men were arrested in a taxi shortly after arriving in Istanbul and were later extradited to the UAE.

UAE-based Khaleej Times reported that Emirate government thanked Turkish officials for the capture of three suspects.
