Turkish actor Halit Ergenc called for testimony over Gezi probe
As part of the investigation into the Gezi Park protests in 2013, Ayse Barim, a well-known talent manager, was detained this morning. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has summoned prominent actors Halit Ergenc and Dolunay Soysert to provide testimony regarding the case.
Both actors are known to be working with talent manager Ayse Barim.
Ayse Barim, the founder and partner of ID Consultancy (ID Iletisim), has previously been in the spotlight due to allegations of “monopolization” in the industry.
Recent claims in the media linked her to participation in the 2013 Gezi Park protests in Türkiye, prompting the investigation.

Barim is accused of attempting to “overthrow the government of the Republic of Türkiye or obstruct it from performing its duties.” These charges led to her detention for questioning.
The inclusion of Ergenc and Soysert in the investigation suggests a broader inquiry into the entertainment industry’s involvement in the Gezi Park events.
Ergenc was involved in the Gezi protests of 2013.
Both are expected to clarify their roles or connections to the protests during their testimony.
