President Erdogan, UAE’s Al Nahyan discuss bilateral ties, regional issues
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday over a phone call focused on bilateral relations, as well as developments in Syria and Palestine and broader regional and global issues.
According to a statement from Türkiye’s Presidential Communications Directorate, the leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining regional stability and fostering cooperation between their countries.
Focus on stability in Syria
During the conversation, Erdogan stressed the necessity of establishing a Syria where diverse ethnic and religious groups can coexist peacefully.
He underscored the importance of preserving the country’s territorial integrity and preventing Daesh from exploiting regional instability.
Erdogan also highlighted concerns about Israel potentially using the current situation to undermine emerging efforts toward peace in Syria.
Additionally, the Turkish president reiterated Türkiye’s stance against recognizing the PKK/YPG as representatives of the Kurdish population in Syria.
Commitment to peace in Palestine
On the issue of Palestine, Erdogan affirmed Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to end the humanitarian crisis and violence in the region.
He expressed Türkiye’s dedication to advocating for a swift resolution and lasting peace.
