President Erdogan inaugurates Cukurova International Airport
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the inauguration ceremony of Cukurova International Airport. Addressing rumors about the closure of Sakirpasa Airport, Erdogan stated, “Sakirpasa will not close; it will serve as a training center for the region.”
The new airport is situated 35 kilometers from Adana and 49 kilometers from Mersin. It features a secondary runway, two rapid taxiways, an apron with a capacity for 48 aircraft, a general aviation apron with a capacity for 21 aircraft, ground services, parking, and control towers. The terminal building covers 214,180 square meters.
Erdogan highlighted that the airport would significantly contribute to the tourism and industry sectors in Adana and Mersin, with an annual passenger capacity of 9 million and the creation of 3,000 jobs.
