Police arrest man trying to enter US Consulate in Istanbul

The suspect, reportedly facing a mental health condition, is currently in police custody and is expected to undergo interrogation

In a concerning incident today, an individual, reportedly facing a mental health condition, attempted to access the parking lot of the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul located in Sariyer.

Quick response from the police led to the apprehension of the person around 12:00 p.m.

The Law enforcement teams managed to detain the suspect promptly and transported him to the police station for further investigation. 

Dramatic moments unfolded as the individual, who tried to enter the consulate, was subdued, handcuffed and escorted into a police vehicle.

Footage recorded with a mobile phone documented the sequence of events, showcasing the police intervention.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to undergo interrogation as authorities work to determine the motive and background behind the attempted intrusion into the U.S. Consulate General’s parking lot.
