Former IYI Party (Good Party) spokesperson and deputy chairman Yavuz Agiralioglu announced that he is establishing the Anahtar Party (Key Party).

Agiralioglu stated, “’Atatürk said on October 28, ‘Sirs, tomorrow we will declare the Republic’. Inspired by this, we coincide with the establishment of our party today and say; ‘O great Turkish nation, tomorrow we are establishing our party. This party will change the evil fortunes of the Turkish nation and will rise like a sun over the dark clouds over the Turkish state.’”

Key Party will become the 158th active political party registered with the Turkish Ministry of Interior.

Who is Agiralioglu?

Yavuz Agiralioglu hails from the Black Sea province of Trabzon. He would grow up in the villages of Trabzon and Yozgat, and would eventually study Political Science at Ankara University.

Agiralioglu was then involved in domestic politics with the far-right Great Union Party’s (BBP) youth branch Alperen Ocaklari in the late 1990s and 2000s.

But he then spent many years as an independent thereafter.

In 2018, he would join IYI Party and become a deputy representing Istanbul at the Turkish Parliament until 2023.

During the 2023 general elections, he would stand against the Nation Alliance (Millet İttifaki) decision to select former CHP Chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu as a joint presidential candidate and quiet cooperation with Kurdish-oriented HDP which is disapproved by nationalist voters.
