In a gesture of solidarity with Palestine, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus met on Friday with Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela, and Jeff Monson, a former UFC fighter who recently converted to Islam.

The meeting, which also included representatives from the European Muslim Forum and the Global Palestine Summit, took place in Ankara.

Courageous stance against Israel

Kurtulmus expressed his gratitude to Mandela and Monson for their “courageous stance on the side of justice and humanity against the oppression of Israel.” Monson’s recent conversion to Islam was reportedly influenced by his solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, a South African parliamentarian, continues the legacy of his grandfather, Nelson Mandela, who was renowned for his fight against apartheid and served as South Africa’s first black president.
