Massive fire erupted in the engine of a Russian airline’s aircraft after it landed at Türkiye’s Antalya Airport amid adverse weather conditions. The incident led to the evacuation of 79 passengers, but no injuries were reported.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100, operated by Azimuth Airlines, was affected by a storm that prompted an orange weather alert from the Turkish State Meteorological Service.

The fire, which broke out in the engine shortly after landing, was quickly extinguished by firefighting teams.

The passengers were safely evacuated, and the aircraft was moved to a parking position. Air traffic at the airport returned to normal after the incident, although several planes had been circling while waiting to land.

Antalya Governor’s Office Deputy Suat Seyitoglu, who also serves as the Regional Administrative Officer at the airport, confirmed that the fire occurred during landing and was swiftly contained. “All passengers were evacuated without injury, and thankfully, no one was harmed. There is no further issue at the moment,” Seyitoglu said.
